Today is Memorial Day. It’s a day we stop for a few minutes and remember those that have fallen in service to our country. We thank them and honor them. Why is it such a big deal? Because they chose to serve. They chose to serve knowing full well that it could lead to their own death…and they did it anyway. Thank you.
There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. -John 15:13
“…to lay down one’s life.” Intentionally, on purpose. To lay it down voluntarily. There in lies the beauty and grace. Thank you.
I am not saying that soldiers, Marines, sailors, airmen, or any other service member are perfect people. They are not. They are human just like the rest of us with flaws and faults, but having loved others above themselves by sacrificing their own life elevates them to a place of honor. Thank you.
As you go about your day today, please pause, even if just for a moment, and remember those that are not here with us. Remember those that sacrificed themselves so you can voice your opinion and have opportunities. Thank you.
Make it a beautiful day, friends.
